Stay in the Game

Stay in the Game

Hi everyone! I mentioned on Sunday that I’d put out the rest of my notes I didn’t get to. So here they are! It was truly a great morning together. I hope you’ll make plans to join us this Sunday as well. It’s our Back to School Special where we will hear from Kevin Wright, Principal of Hamlin Middle School and Jennifer Scurlock, teacher at Churchill High School and we will pray for all the students, teachers and administrators as we head into the new school year and Fall season. Our all church picnic will follow right after! See you there!

Stay in the Game
Psalm 119:105-112

Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

106 I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations.

107 I have suffered much, O Lord; restore my life again as you promised.

108 Lord, accept my offering of praise, and teach me your regulations.

109 My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying your instructions.

110 The wicked have set their traps for me, but I will not turn from your commandments.

111 Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.

112 I am determined to keep your decrees to the very end. NLT

Why it’s reasonable to stay in the game: Determined

Rom 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. NLT

Heb 10:14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. NLT

John Bunyan – Sinner, thou thinkest that, because of thy many sins and infirmities I cannot save thy soul, but behold my son is by me, and upon him I look, and not on thee, and I will deal with thee according as I am pleased with him!

How to Stay in the Game

Ps 1:1  Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. NIV

  1. Be honest and aware that there is a battle being waged against you. Your enemy is external and internal. Don’t think you’re the only one for whom this is true.
  2. Make your bible a constant companion.

* Read it regularly.

* If needed, take classes so you understand what you’re reading.

* Memorize verses/passages

* Meditate using what you’ve memorized.

  1. Find a small group of people to meet with regularly and make the daily reading/journaling the main curriculum for discussion.
