Daily fasting thought from PG: Day 6
Welcome to Day 6 of our Daniel Fast taken from Daniel 1
Matt 4:1-4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”….But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say….
This scenario is repeated 3 times before the devil finally gives up and leaves. Jesus is tempted to show off His latent power as God to perform miracles to overcome. But Jesus knew in His kingdom God’s power would flow, not through strength, but through our weakness declaring our utter dependence on Him. Jesus employed the simple, child-like power of stating as fact the words of the scriptures. Submission to God and His word is kryptonite to the Devil (thought-caster). He has no defense system for that. That’s why fasting is so powerful when combined with prayer and bible reading and memorized scripture for meditation.
