Day 12: Breakthrough In Building Right Relationships
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.
My Breakthrough Thought:
Have you ever seen that one movie where the guy who has special abilities starts to listen to the villain, and he ends up betraying the good guys to become the ultimate villain in the plot? You know the one, Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader in Starwars. Though the story is fiction the plot is nothing new to humanity, and in fact most of today’s entertainment highlights the influence that people have on our own decision making skills, whether it’s for romance, acceptance or success. The biggest breakthrough we could receive is understanding that when we spend time with the Holy Spirit and read the bible, we learn God’s thoughts about us and his plans for us. We begin to reflect the design that our creator intended.
Yes, we are called to be a light in this dark world, but we aren’t called to turn the light off so others aren’t inconvenienced or because life is hard. Sometimes we must change the status of a relationship and keep it that way so that we can be who we were truly meant to be.
My Breakthrough Prayer Today:
“Jesus, I understand how easily I can be influenced by others beliefs and their behaviors. I know that I ultimately become like those who are around me. Help me to choose my relationships wisely. Let me be an influence to those that need you, and protect me from those who might influence me in an un-Christlike manner. If there be any relationships I need to step away from, give me the strength and wisdom to do so. Amen!”
